FOFA Comics Exhibition

FOFA COMICS Exhibition – First Edition

The FOFA COMICS Exhibition marks the first edition of a recurring annual event at the Graphic Department, Faculty of Fine Arts, Zamalek, dedicated to the art of comics, illustrated books, and various forms of cartoon art. This debut exhibition featured around 60 senior students from the Animation and Book Arts Division.

This year’s exhibition focused on addressing a range of social issues relevant to Egyptian society through the lens of the ninth art—Comics Art—presenting both comedic and dramatic takes on real-life problems such as:

  • Overcrowding and traffic congestion

  • Harassment and bullying

  • Bureaucracy

  • Depression

  • Economic inflation

  • Social media – pros and cons

  • Rumors and misinformation

  • Envy and theft

  • Obesity and bribery

  • Student life in Fine Arts

Despite the often negative nature of these themes, students tackled them using simplified and humorous approaches aimed at raising awareness and encouraging positive change. Each student brought a distinctive artistic style to their work, reflecting personal expression and social consciousness.

Additionally, the exhibition showcased animation films created by the students, exploring the same themes portrayed in their comics.

Notably, the name "FOFA"—a playful abbreviation for the Faculty of Fine Arts—was chosen as the title of the exhibition to reflect the spirit and identity of the college community.
